Gifts for grandparents

The gift they'll actually keep out

Grandparents don't need another candle. A printed book of the grandchildren sits on the coffee table and gets shown to every single visitor — and you can build it tonight from photos already on your phone.

Books people give

A year of the grandchildren

The simplest version and the most loved. Twelve months of photos, ordered by date, with the biggest smiles given a full page each.

The whole family, together

Cousins, siblings, the dog, the chaos of Christmas dinner. A book that shows the family as a group, not a series of portraits.

A milestone birthday

Eighty years in eighty photos, borrowed from everyone's albums. Photograph old prints on your phone in daylight and they scan in surprisingly well.

Pick a size that's easy to hold

Square books are light and comfortable to hold on a lap, which matters more than you'd think. A4 gives bigger faces if eyesight is a consideration.

Square 8.3"

The friendliest shape for phone photos. Portrait and landscape shots both sit happily on the page without a fight.

Four things that make a gift book better

Faces big, clutter small

Choose photos where the children fill the frame. Wide shots of a busy park lose their impact once they're on a page.

One photo per page

Gift books are for looking at slowly. Resist packing pages — a single photo per page reads far better across the sofa.

Put their names on the cover

A cover photo plus the grandchildren's names in a classic typeface turns a nice book into a keepsake.

Order two

If there are two sets of grandparents, build once and order twice. It takes about thirty seconds more.

Questions people ask

Can I send it straight to them?

Yes. Enter their address at checkout and the book goes directly to them, ready to be opened.

Can I include old printed photos?

Yes. Photograph the print flat in daylight with no flash, crop to the edges, and it will usually print perfectly well.

How many photos do I need?

One photo per page as a minimum: 24 pages. You can go well beyond that, and you can put two photos on a page whenever a moment needs a pair.

Will photos from my phone print well?

Yes. Anything from a recent phone prints cleanly at these sizes. The only images to avoid are screenshots, heavily zoomed shots and pictures saved from messaging apps at low quality.

How long does delivery take?

Your book goes to print as soon as the order is paid. Delivery time depends on where you are, and you'll get an email with tracking as soon as it ships.
