School & nursery years

One book for every school year

First day, last day, the nativity, the sports day nobody won. A school year book keeps each year separate and comparable — and it's the only reliable way to remember how small they were in September.

How parents build theirs

September to July

Start with the first-day photo at the front door and end with the last. Everything in between fills itself in.

The big school days

Nativity, sports day, class trips, the assembly certificate. Give each one a page and the year has a shape.

Artwork and writing

Photograph paintings and school books flat and put them in. Paper doesn't survive the loft; a printed page does.

Choose one shape and repeat it

Keeping the same size every year gives you a matching row on the shelf, one spine per school year.

Square 8.3"

The friendliest shape for phone photos. Portrait and landscape shots both sit happily on the page without a fight.

Four things that make a school book better

Take the same photo every September

Same doorway, same pose, uniform on. Side by side across years it's the most striking page in the whole set.

Keep a folder as you go

Favourite the photos through the year in your phone so building the book in July takes ten minutes, not an evening.

Include their friends

Names change, classes split. The friends from Year 2 are half the point of remembering Year 2.

Put the year group on the cover

Name and year in a bold typeface makes each book instantly identifiable on the shelf.

Questions people ask

Can I include official school photos?

Yes, if you bought them or have the right to print them. Photograph the print flat in daylight or use the digital file if you were sent one.

Can I make one book for several children?

You can, but most families find a book per child per year works better — each child gets their own to keep later.

How many photos do I need?

One photo per page as a minimum: 24 pages. You can go well beyond that, and you can put two photos on a page whenever a moment needs a pair.

Will photos from my phone print well?

Yes. Anything from a recent phone prints cleanly at these sizes. The only images to avoid are screenshots, heavily zoomed shots and pictures saved from messaging apps at low quality.

How long does delivery take?

Your book goes to print as soon as the order is paid. Delivery time depends on where you are, and you'll get an email with tracking as soon as it ships.
